A photograph stops people. A film keeps them.
Most brands in Doha already have good photographs. What they often lack is motion that carries the same quality: a launch film that feels like the campaign, social cutdowns that look like they came from the same world, a hero film the website can open on.
I work as director and director of photography on every project, and I come from stills. That shapes everything: composition first, light that flatters skin and fabric, and frames you could pull out and print. It also means stills and motion can be planned together on one shoot day, so your campaign stays consistent across every channel.
- Brand films, commercials, fashion films, event films and impact documentaries.
- Concept, shoot, edit, colour grade and sound handled by one team.
- Delivered in every format you need: 16:9, 1:1, 4:5 and 9:16, with Arabic and English subtitles.

Brand film & video production, Doha: from brief to final grade
Brief and treatment
We agree the goal, the audience and where the film will live. I write a treatment with references, tone and a shot plan.
Pre-production
Casting, locations, permits, styling and schedule, all planned so the shoot day runs calmly.
The shoot
Directed and lit with a stills eye. Photographs can be captured on the same day for a matching campaign.
Edit, grade, sound and delivery
Editing, colour grading, music and sound, subtitles, then every format you need for every channel.
One shoot, a full set of assets
Every brand film and commercial video production is planned backwards from where the film will be seen, so you never end up stretching a horizontal film into a vertical feed.
- Hero filmThe main edit, typically 60 to 120 seconds, graded and mixed in 16:9.
- Cutdowns15 and 30 second versions for paid social, digital screens and pre-roll.
- Vertical edits9:16 versions built for Reels, TikTok and Stories, not cropped afterwards.
- StillsCampaign photographs from the same shoot, when planned in the brief.
- SubtitlesArabic and English subtitle files, or burned in for social.
- MastersHigh-resolution masters for broadcast and archive.
Brand film & video production, Doha: choosing the right film
Before we talk cameras, we talk purpose. Many of the briefs I receive for video production in Doha simply ask for “a video”, and the most useful thing I can do first is help decide which kind. A brand film, a commercial and a corporate video can look similar on a timeline, but they are built for different audiences, different lengths and different places. Mixing them up is the most common reason a film underperforms.
The brand film
A brand film tells people who you are and why you exist. It usually runs 60 to 120 seconds, rarely sells a single product, and needs to age well, because it will open your website, your pitch deck and your launch for a long time. Tone matters more than information: light, music, pacing and casting carry the message. If you can only make one film this year, this is often the one that keeps earning its cost back.
Commercial video production
Commercial video production is sharper and more focused. A commercial has one job, usually to make someone book, buy, visit or remember, and very little time to do it. On social platforms the first two seconds decide whether anyone stays, so I plan the opening frame as carefully as the end card. Commercials work best as a family: a 30 second master with 15 and 6 second versions, horizontal and vertical, all cut from the same shoot.
The corporate video
A corporate video explains: a company profile, a CSR programme, a message from leadership, a recruitment film or a conference opener. The risk is that it turns into a list of facts read over footage that could belong to anyone. I treat a corporate video like a short documentary instead: real people in real places, interviews lit properly and recorded with clean sound, and a story with a beginning, a middle and an end.
Fashion films and event films
Fashion films sit between the brand film and the editorial. The fashion film as a form is about fabric, movement and mood more than plot, and it rewards a director who understands how clothes behave on a body. Event films are the opposite: unscripted, fast and needed quickly, so the planning is about positions, timings and backup audio rather than storyboards. You can see both sides in my fashion campaign work and on the case studies page.
How to brief a videographer in Doha
For brand film & video production, Doha clients often worry that a brief has to be long. It does not. It needs to answer the questions that change the plan. When a client sends me these points at the start, I can come back with a treatment and a clear, all-inclusive quote quickly, and nothing important surprises anyone on the shoot day.
- The goalWhat should a viewer feel, know or do after watching? One clear answer beats five.
- Where it will liveWebsite, paid social, digital screens, broadcast, a conference stage or an investor deck. This decides length, ratio and pacing.
- The audience and languageWho you are speaking to, and whether the film needs Arabic, English or both.
- The launch dateThe date the film must go live. Everything is planned backwards from it.
- MandatoriesLogo rules, products, legal lines, people who must appear and anyone who must approve.
- ReferencesTwo or three films you love, and a sentence on why. Even one you dislike helps.
- A budget rangeNot a commitment, just a frame, so I can propose the strongest film within it.
If you are not sure about some of these, that is normal. Part of my job as director is to help you answer them. The treatment I write after our first call is where the brief becomes a plan: references, tone, a shot list, casting notes and a schedule you can share with your team.
Why one director for stills and motion saves money
When the same person plans the photographs and the film, locations, talent, styling and set dressing are booked once, and the light is designed for both. Your art direction stays consistent, and the campaign stills feel like frames from the film because they were lit in the same world. For many brands this is the biggest saving in commercial video production, far bigger than negotiating a day rate.
Choosing a videographer in Doha: what to check
Showreels are cut to impress, so ask to see full films, start to finish. A 40 second reel can hide weak sound, uneven colour and a story that does not hold. Ask who directs, who lights, who edits and who grades, and whether the person you meet is the person on set. Check that they have delivered in the formats you need, especially vertical, and ask how they handle music licensing and talent releases.
Before you hire any videographer in Doha, it is also worth asking how they work with your existing photography, because a film that looks nothing like your campaign weakens both. My guide to hiring a photographer in Doha covers the same questions for stills, and most of them apply to film too.
What shapes the budget
The cost of commercial video production is driven by a handful of things: shoot days, crew size, locations and permits, talent and styling, how much movement and lighting the look needs, the number and length of edits, and post-production such as grading, sound design, motion graphics and subtitles. I quote all of it as one clear figure. For market context, see my guide to videographer prices in Doha.
Usage, rights and approvals
Agree early where the film will run and for how long. Broadcast, paid social, mall screens and organic posts carry different expectations for talent releases and music licences. I clear music and talent for the agreed usage and write it into the quote, so the film can go live on launch day without a last-minute licence problem.
Video production in Doha: light, heat and locations
Doha is a generous city to film in, but it has its own rules. The light is strong and hard for most of the day, the summer heat changes how long people and equipment can work outdoors, and many of the most beautiful places are private, managed or need permission. Planning around those three things is what turns a stressful shoot into a calm one.
Working with the light
For exteriors I usually schedule around the first and last hours of daylight, when the sun is low and kind to skin. Midday is for interiors, studio set-ups and shaded locations, or for a deliberate high-contrast look. Because the window of good light is short, for any videographer in Doha the shot list is ordered by light rather than by script, and the edit puts everything back in story order.
Planning for the season
From late spring to early autumn, filming outdoors in the middle of the day is hard on talent, wardrobe and cameras. In those months I plan early starts, cool holding areas, plenty of water and shorter outdoor set-ups. The cooler months tend to be the busiest for shoots in Qatar, so if your launch falls in winter it helps to book your video production in Doha early.
Locations and permits
Hotels, malls, cultural sites and many waterfront areas are managed spaces with their own filming rules, and some need written permission well before the shoot. I build that time into pre-production. For ideas on where to film, my guide to photoshoot locations in Qatar is a good start, and Visit Qatar is useful for seeing the country’s landmarks and seasons at a glance.
Sound and language in a corporate video
Doha is a bilingual market, and a film that only works in one language loses part of its audience. I plan interviews, voice-over and on-screen text for Arabic and English from the start, record clean location sound, and deliver subtitle files or burned-in captions. In a corporate video, good audio matters even more than good pictures: people forgive a soft frame, never a voice they cannot hear.
A calm set is a better film
Most people in a brand film are not actors. Staff, founders, chefs and models give their best when the set is quiet, the schedule is realistic and someone explains what is happening. I keep crews as small as the look allows, brief everyone before the camera rolls, and protect time for the moments that cannot be repeated. That calm shows on screen, and it is the part of video production in Doha I care about most.
Broadcast, editorial and field experience
The same discipline that runs a live broadcast or a field documentary goes into every brand film & video production, Doha or abroad: preparation, calm on set and delivery on time.

Brand film & video production, Doha: your questions answered
How much does a brand film cost in Doha?
Every film is quoted on its brief: shoot days, crew size, locations, talent, edit length and the formats you need. Send me the brief and I will come back with a clear, all-inclusive quote. Commercial video production and corporate video budgets are shaped by the same factors. For typical market ranges, see my videographer prices guide for Doha and the photography price guide.
Can you shoot photos and video on the same day?
Yes, and it is often the best value. When stills and motion are planned in one brief, the campaign looks consistent everywhere and you pay for one production instead of two.
Do you handle scripts, casting and locations?
Yes. I write the treatment and shot plan, and organise casting, styling, locations and permits through Triangles Studio and trusted partners in Doha.
Do you deliver vertical videos for Instagram and TikTok?
Yes. Vertical 9:16 edits are planned on set and framed for vertical from the start, so nothing important is cut off.
Can you add Arabic and English subtitles?
Yes. I deliver Arabic and English subtitle files, or burned-in captions for social platforms.
Do you film outside Qatar?
Yes. I have filmed across the Gulf, North Africa, Europe and Asia. Travel and logistics are included in the quote.
What is the difference between a brand film and a corporate video?
A brand film is about feeling and identity: who you are and why you matter, told through light, music and people. A corporate video is about explaining: a profile, a programme, a message from leadership. Both can be made beautifully, and often from the same shoot.
How far ahead should we book video production in Doha?
As early as you can, especially for the cooler months and for shoots that need casting, locations or permits. Tell me your launch date and I will plan backwards from it and tell you honestly what is realistic.
Can you film interviews in our office?
Yes. Interviews, leadership messages and team portraits can be filmed in your office with portable lighting and clean sound. I scout the space first so we choose the best room and background, not just the free one.
Do you work with agencies as a videographer in Doha?
Yes. I can join an agency production as director or director of photography, or take the whole film through Triangles Studio, from treatment to final delivery.
What does commercial video production with you include?
Treatment, pre-production, the shoot, editing, colour grading, music and sound, subtitles and every delivery format you need. If stills are part of the brief, they are planned into the same shoot, so a commercial video production and a photo campaign come from one set of days.
